Interview #01 - Fronfarne's radio demon: Alastor

Miriam March 11, 2026
I've had the honor to interview the Radio Demon Alastor of Fronfarne! And that interview certainly has taken quite an interesting turn! We've met at the Quirky Rabbit for this, enjoying some tea on the side.

Hello, hello, Alastor! I'm glad we could both meet up for this interview! Dare I say... I am a big, big fan of your radio show! I tune in whenever I can! Now, tell me... how are you faring? How's life treating you in Fronfarne?
Alastor
A chuckle. Oh, why, thank you, my dear! How marvelous it is to hear that you're a fan of my show. Always wonderful to meet one of my fans.

I must say, life in Fronfarne is simply beautiful. Life has been far more easy-going and quaint since I moved here.
Miriam
Oh, true! You're originally from the Tower of Babel, right? I admit... when I visit the tower I never truly get past the zeroth floor. Even with my journalist's pass, the highest I can get is past the first... and that's only when I meet a guard on their good day.

Aaaaah, I digress, I digress!! Tell me, is there anything you miss from the Tower?
Alastor
Ah... Darling, I would highly advise to try not to venture farther. For your own safety, of course. His posture and smile are a bit stiff for a moment, but smooth over.

Yes, I come from the Tower of Babel, much to my chagrin. Dastardly place, I daresay. Unlike the freedom of Fronfarne — and the other places — the Tower of Babel has a rather strict hierarchy system in place.

There is very little that I miss about that place. While those on higher floors live in content, those below them are always struggling and suffering. You have to pull strings and be smart in order to climb the tower.

... A thoughtful pause. While there is little I miss about the Tower of Babel, I do miss at least one thing.
Miriam
She nods. Yes, I've heard things about the Tower that are not very nice. The hierarchy system is one thing that doesn't want me to live there! I prefer being a free... bir-- uh cat! Plus, Fronfarne is my forever home! She giggles.

Now... what is that one thing if you don't mind me asking?
Alastor
As it should be, darling~

Mmmm~ He closes his eyes and laces his fingers together, then looks at her. My companion. We dabbled in different mediums of media, but he was the one person who could understand me, truly.

Unfortunately, when I offered him the chance to join me in leaving the Tower of Babel, he adamantly refused, preferring the cushy life that we had built together on the Fifth floor.

It's not like I can blame him. Change is a difficult pill to swallow. And given the Tower of Babel has stronger protection against the Mare attacks, and given his constitution...

Oh, he looks sad.

... it makes sense. At least in Fronfarne, I can put my powers to proper use.
Miriam
Your companion. I see, I see! Do you think you can invite him over to Fronfarne even for just a visit? Or is he really just that kind of shut-in?
Alastor
Why, I have offered numerous times... but he tends to decline, you see.
Though I do hear from the grapevine that he can be seen wandering around, sometimes, so perhaps curiosity gets the best of him. Luckily for my dear friend, I keep this city as comfortable as possible. I daren't imagine letting threats of the Mare come to harm the people here. They are... for what it is worth, family to me.

That being said, he does enjoy himself with advanced technologies, and considers Fronfarne to be a bit more on the... fairytale side if you will. Quiet laugh.
Miriam
I do admit that Fronfarne has gotten safer over time! It's been a while since I've spotted a mid-level Mare, even just lurking inside the forest. I trust everyone who is helping keep Fronfarne safe! But also... your radio tower's got something to do with that, right?
Alastor
Indeed-y do, my dear! My radio tower stands in the perfect position, in order to carry out the waves throughout the entirety of Fronfarne. It's not entirely foolproof; thus, the efforts of everyone who keeps the city safe are just as important, but I adjust the frequencies so that they deter the Mare.

After the Catastrophe, my own personal experience... A hand rests on his chest ... as you can see, my appearance is quite... unique. Before the Catastrophe, I was much shorter, and I looked far simpler and more mundane. However, since that time, I have taken on this form, due to the effects of the Mare on my Innersong. With it, my powers increased, and thus, I now also know which frequencies can repel the Mare. Some can drive them crazy, while others can scare them. I can use frequencies to create such harmonies that they can't quite catch any sorrow that may linger within the city; thus, their attraction lessens.

That's only brushing the surface!
Miriam
Oh, that's sooooo cool! I have been wondering what makes your appearance so... unique. Now, don't mind me! You look quite handsome to me. She giggles. I have heard stories of others facing the same consequence with their Innersong.

And I must say, you are such a big, big help! I've seen many civilians leave the town to explore more. I hope you will keep this up.

I hope we get to host the Spring Festival again! Five days to celebrate spring... that is what our Queen planned. She is very positive that during that time, Fronfarne won't face another threat.
Alastor
A soft chuckle, ear flick, and he briefly covers his mouth with his hand. Oh, my dear, you're far too sweet. Thank you, truly~

Indeed. My companion I mentioned before has such grand fears, due to what we both experienced. His own appearance drastically changed, as well. It's quite unfortunate that such a thing happens, but is it not a splendid testament to show our resilience ? Our will to live ? We may carry the scars of what we once endured, but we stay strong.

Of course, I shan't abandon Fronfarne. I've been testing a few... spells, if you will, to be able to remotely use my powers as well. Honing such skills takes a lot of time and patience, of course. But my home shall forever be Fronfarne, and I don't intend to up and leave.

A hum. Ah, yes ! Our beloved Queen needn't fret. Those of us who protect Fronfarne shall do our part. I know I shall be ensuring everyone's safety, to the best of my ability.
Miriam
Oh, I do hope I ever get to meet and interview your companion. I really want to hear his side. But knowing he's living in the upper floors of that Tower it's very likely it won't happen. She sighs. But a cat can dream!

Are you looking forward for the Spring Festival? I do assume you're going to amuse yourself, too, right?
Alastor
Hmm~ Perhaps I can arrange for an interview. I can imagne it would be rather hard for you to get an interview otherwise, as he is the CEO of his own company. And no small one, at that.

Haha, but of course, darling. What better time than a festival to enjoy some social interaction ? Get to know some of the newcomers, rekindle with familiar faces, and to enjoy the splendor that our beloved Queen provides for us.
Miriam
I plan on staying longer in Fronfarne solely for the festival, so I'll be around! I thank you so, so much for the interview! Do you have any parting words before we end it here?
Alastor
Why, it was my pleasure, darling ! Thank you as well.

Hmm~ ...

Consider this an open invitation to any that stumble across this interview, to please consider visiting Fronfarne for the Spring Festival. It shall be a delightful time.
